Unfortunately we’ve had to put the Wild Flower Meadow on hold, so it has been re-incorporated back into the Green. The grass has been given free reign for years – decades – and is a formidable opponent to the wild flowers. It’s just gobbled them up so that they’ve disappeared without trace. To deal with this we’d need to use a more radical method to kill the all-consuming grass, ie, to rotivate the area, put in a single dose of weedkiller, and then replant the bare soil. We would also need some more manpower, which we don’t have at the moment. We hope that next year we may have some more time; we’ll then put out a plea for some help; and then have another shot at establishing the Wild Flower Meadow using the more radical method recommended by the experts.
